Body and Soul

It’s a very old believe that body and soul are totally separate entities. A very strong conviction of many humans. Most modern religions proclaim that body and soul are completely separate substances, and have nothing to do with each other.

Today majority of people like to say that they “believe in science”. (I don’t actually know what they mean, but I hear it a lot). So…does modern “science” accept strict separation of body and soul?

Body is a subject of numerous studies: biology, genetics, medicine, etc. Most people have no trouble accepting the fact that every organ in human body is affected by genetics, and follows basic laws of biology. Different genders require different medial treatment. Different races may have different skin color, different bone structure, etc. Sickness may cause drastic body changes. Genes define almost everything in our body.

So….What about “soul”? We could define soul as a set of cognitive abilities, decision making processes, and emotional responses. Which cognitive abilities affected by gender? Do we make different decisions when we are sick? What about choices that humans make in life? Do they depend of race or genetics?

If you ask that kind of questions “believe in science” mob would attack, and try to kill you. Those questions are not supposed to be asked. It’s considered evil heresy. Modern “priests of science” would do anything to destroy you. Their “science” must not ask questions – all questions have already been settled by “science”.

Medieval theologists were honest and ethical enough to accept what they preach. That does not apply to modern “believe in science” crowd.
